# How do I set up the office's website?

> How ErgoWeb builds pages, a menu and first posts from the office's details, and how you carry on from there.

**ErgoWeb** is the office's website, run from **Applications → ErgoWeb**. It has two templates, **Technical** and **Consulting**, with six colour schemes, and pages built from ready-made blocks.

### How do I set up the website?

**Smart website starting point** (ErgoWeb → Home) has four steps: **Description**, **Theme**, **Draft website** and **Publish**. In the first three the live website does not change.

In **Theme** you write how it should look: a description, the style (Classic, Modern, Minimal, Technical), what should stand out, who it is for and, if you like, a website you like — for its style only; none of its text or images is kept. The AI suggests three themes, with colours for a light and a dark look and fonts; a theme that does not pass the contrast check is not suggested. The suggestions cost credits, written on the button, and the themes stay with your office: you can pick an older one too.

**Set up the website** reads the office's details and the services you pick, writes the «About us» page and three posts as drafts, and prepares the home page and the system pages. These come as whole pages — sections, the steps of a process, lists and frequent questions — and you correct them like any text on the website. It builds no service pages: add the ones you want yourself, in the **Website** tab. It uses AI and costs credits — if there are not enough, it does not start. All of this is written into a **draft**, with the theme you picked, kept in «My designs»; **Open the draft** shows it beside the live website. It goes live only with **Publish**, after the checks and a second confirmation, and a copy of today's website is kept first. If a part is not built, **Try again** has another go, in the same draft. Any catalogue services you leave unticked are switched off in the office's catalogue.

| Tab | What it holds |
| --- | --- |
| Website | The pages and their blocks |
| Posts (Blog) | The posts — the first three among them, as drafts, until you publish them |
| Our work | The projects you have published |
| Media | The website's images |
| Appearance · Settings | Template, colours, identity, footer, address, search, pages |

### Where is the website?

The website has an address of its own, with the office's name in front: **office-name.ergothiki.page**. The name is set in the office's details; if it changes, the old address leads to the new one. Inside ErgoWeb, the preview shows the website as visitors will see it; your own views are not counted in the visit statistics.

### What does a visitor see on the home page?

At the top, a strip with the office's phone, email and address — and, if you show your hours, «Open today» or «Closed today» on your office's clock. The header always carries a button: the one you set for the home page, otherwise **Request a quote** to the contact page. On a phone, a bar at the bottom keeps **Call** (if you show a phone) and the same button always at hand.

A new website starts in this order: the office's numbers, services, projects, the four steps of your work (write your own), articles, the office with its people beside it, contact and the map. Whatever has no content is not shown. In **Technical**, without a photograph, the first section draws contour lines from the office's location (decorative — not the real terrain); **Consulting** numbers its sections («§ 01 — …») in the order they appear.

### How do I publish a project on the website?

From a project's **⋮**, **Publish on the website** opens its form: up to six facts and five photographs. The customer, prices, tax number and KAEK are never published; if the text looks like a tax number or a KAEK, you are warned. Of the address only the town is published; the exact address, with a map link, only if you switch it on.

### Where do I correct a text on the website?

In the preview, **Write** lets you write on the page itself. A service's description, a member's short bio and a project card's title are corrected there too, but they are saved where they come from — one text, the same everywhere:

| What you click | Where it is saved |
| --- | --- |
| Service description | Service catalogue |
| A member's short bio | Member profile |
| Project card title | Our projects › publication |

It needs the same permission as the original screen; every member corrects their own short bio. Without the permission, a click says where the text is changed and which permission is missing. A project title that looks like a tax number or a KAEK is not saved from the page: you check it in the project's publication. The menu, the cover and the footer change on their own screens, the opening hours in the office settings.

### What is a free section?

A section you design yourself — or the AI designs for you. You add it with **Add a block** → **Free section** and write it on the page, in **Write**, like any other text. For the advanced, the block's form has the **HTML code** field and the section's frame: **Background** (No background, Soft, Band, Accent colour — from the website's colours), **Width** and **Space above/below**.

Whatever you write goes through the same check as the rest of the website: scripts, iframes, on… attributes and styles are removed when it is saved, and a message says what was removed; the rest stays as you wrote it. For a video or a map there is the Embed block.

### How do I add a video, a map or a booking calendar?

With the **Embed** block: you paste the ordinary link from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps (the map's embed link), Calendly or Cal.com, and the form says which service it recognised. We build the embed address; YouTube loads from youtube-nocookie.com. Iframe code or a link from another service is not accepted.

On the website the visitor first sees a frame with **Load content from …**: nothing loads from the service before they press it. The same goes for the **Map** block: the visitor sees the address, **Show map** and **Directions**, and Google loads the map only after they press it.

### What does the notification about pages seen but not clicked mean?

Once a week, whoever manages ErgoWeb gets one notification when Google showed a page of the website at least 200 times in the last 28 days and fewer than 1 in 100 clicked it. It names the page, its impressions and its clicks. A clearer title and description often help: in the page's search fields the AI suggests a title and a description, with the cost on the button. The same page is not named again for 30 days, and the notification is switched off in ErgoWeb's **Settings**, on the **Search** tab.

### What does the AI do to a section?

When AI is available to the office and you select a saved section of a page, the section's panel shows **AI actions for this section**: **Redesign a section**, **Add frequently asked questions**, **Expand a service page** and **Step-by-step process**. The AI reads the page's title and the section's texts — for the questions and the service also the names of the office's services; it does not read customers, people or prices. We ask it not to write numbers, dates, prices or laws that are not already in the text.

The proposal opens next to **Now**, and nothing changes on the website before you press **Apply**; on Apply the section becomes a free section. **Reject** leaves it as it was, and **↶ Undo** brings back the last applied AI change. Each action's price is written on its button; the credits are charged when the proposal is created, not on Apply.

The website is run by whoever has the ErgoWeb permission:

| Permission | Office Owner | Office administrator | Project manager | Technical staff | Secretariat | Accounting | Website manager |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Manage ErgoWeb — the public website and its posts | ✓yes | ✓yes | —no | —no | —no | —no | ✓yes |

### How do I connect my own domain?

In ErgoWeb's Settings, on the **Address & domain** tab, you type the address you have bought (e.g. www.your-office.com) and press **Connect**. First you confirm that the domain is yours: the page gives a **TXT** record named `_ergothiki` with a value only for your office. You add it at the company that runs the domain's DNS today and press **Check** — we also look for it ourselves every 15 minutes, for 72 hours. Once it is found the page says **Confirmed** and shows the connection record — one CNAME; the rest (the check, the certificate, the notice) happens on its own, and the certificate renews by itself every 90 days with nothing to write again — if it ever does not, we tell you. If another office confirms the same domain first, your request closes and the page says so.

### How do I add a DNS record — company by company

The records go to the company where the domain's DNS is today: usually where you bought it; if you have switched to other nameservers (your hosting's, say, or Cloudflare's), there. The same rules hold at every company:

- **Name (Host):** type only the part before your domain; the company adds the rest itself. For www.your-office.com the TXT is written `_ergothiki.www` and the CNAME `www`. Typed in full, the record ends up under the wrong name (`_ergothiki.www.your-office.com.your-office.com`) and is never found. A record on the bare domain itself is usually written `@`.
- **Value:** paste it exactly as the page gives it, with the copy button.
- **TTL:** the default, or the lowest value on offer.

#### Papaki

In the right-hand menu, **Domains & Products** → your domain → **Domain & DNS** → **DNS Management** → **Edit DNS zone**. There press **+Add**, pick the record type, type the name (for the root leave the field **empty** — Papaki does not want `@`), paste the value and press **Save**. Leave the records Papaki has already put there: its free services stop without them.

#### Top.Host

When the DNS lives in a Top.Host hosting plan: **myTophost Panel** → sign in to the plan's **Plesk** → the **Websites & Domains** tab → **Hosting & DNS** → **DNS** → **Add Record**. Pick the type, put the prefix in **Domain name** (empty for the root), paste the value and finish with **Update**.

#### GoDaddy

**Domain Portfolio** → your domain (the **Domain Settings** page) → **DNS** → **Add New Record** → the type. In **Name** type the prefix without the domain (`@` for the root), paste the value and press **Save**. If the domain has Domain Protection, GoDaddy also asks for a verification code.

#### Namecheap

**Domain List** (on the left) → **Manage** next to the domain → the **Advanced DNS** tab → **Add New Record** → **TXT Record** or **CNAME Record**. The prefix goes in **Host** (`@` for the root), the value in **Value** → **Save All Changes**.

#### Cloudflare

Your domain → **DNS** → **Records** → **Add record** → type, name (the prefix), value → **Save**. On a CNAME record set **Proxy status** to **DNS only** (grey cloud), not Proxied (orange): that is Cloudflare's own rule for a website hosted elsewhere and for verification records. TXT records are always DNS only.

#### Hostinger

With hosting: **Websites** → your website → **Advanced** → **DNS Zone Editor**. Domain only: **Domains** → your domain → **DNS / Nameservers**. Fill in the type, **Name** (the prefix, `@` for the root), the value and the TTL (the default will do) → **Add Record**. This works while the domain uses Hostinger's nameservers.

#### Another company

On the domain's page look for «DNS», «DNS zone», «DNS Management» or «Advanced DNS» → new record → type → the name without the domain → value → save. If you cannot find it, write to the company's support that you want to add a record to the domain's DNS — it is an everyday request.
