# How do I read and change the projects' timeline?

> How to read the bars and marks, how to move dates with the mouse or the keyboard, and who can change them.

**Projects → Timeline** lays the open projects and their work items along a line of time: from the planned start to the target. A smaller version of it sits on the Home page too.

### How do I change the scale and the filters?

Choose **Day**, **Week**, **Month** or **Quarter**. The filters **Whole office**, **Mine**, **Late** and **Without dates**, together with customer and status, narrow the list; they are kept in the page's address, so a link opens the same view. Projects open one at a time, or all together with **Open all**.

### What do the marks mean?

| Mark | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| bar | Start and target; on a project, the fill shows how many of its items are done |
| ◆ | A target only, no start |
| arrow | One item is waiting for another to finish |
| ⏸ | The item is waiting for someone — the customer, an authority, a partner |
| ⚠ | The item runs outside its project's dates |
| N days late | The target has passed |

### How do I change dates?

Dragging a whole bar moves both dates, and the bar keeps the same number of working days — public holidays, days the office is closed and the person's leave are skipped. The right-hand end or the ◆ changes the target only. Without a mouse: select the bar and press ← or → to move a day; with Shift only the target moves. If the start would land after the target, nothing is saved and the bar springs back. **Undo** reverses the last move. On a phone the page becomes a list and nothing drags.

Pressing a row's name opens its dates panel: start, target and, on a work item, its status and estimated work.

### Who can change dates?

Everyone in the office can see the timeline; without the permission below, the dates panel is read-only and the bars do not move.
